Geo Stott & Co. was established in 1911 and was sited in Village Main Johannesburg.Initially, it started out as a blacksmithing company and later an Ajax Rolling Mill was acquired for the rolling of steel and iron sections. The company moved to its present location in Industria in 1966 and added a Metal Pressing Shop to its operations at that time.

In 1990, the Rolling Mill was discontinued and in 1991, a light fabrication shop – Overhead Line Supplies (Pty) Limited was acquired. In 2001, the manufacturing facilities of Crescom Manufacturing (Pty) Limited was acquired and commissioned on the Geo Stott site in Industria.

The Forge division is one of four forge shops in the country producing heaving forgings with Ispat Iscor being the largest one. The Metal Pressing division is a leader in its field supplying steel components to the Mining, Construction, Power and Telecoms industries. Similarly the Fabrication division is a leader in the manufacture and supply of Overhead Line Hardware in Southern Africa. The Structural Fabrication facility was incorporated into the business in 2003 and has successfully completed structures for Municipal and various Governmental Departments.

The business objectives are to be a premier engineering and manufacturing group supplying metal based and related products from the SADC region into local and world markets. In so doing providing shareholders with solid and sustainable returns and a possible listing in the medium to long term. It is also the company’s objective to expand its product range to the power and telecommunications industries, with product distribution agencies from other reputable suppliers, as it is well established in these markets.

The Stott and Rennie families have for many years owned the company. Recently, the Maruma Family Trust and Prolynx Corp. (Pty) Limited purchased 100% of this shareholding and the company is now a fully black empowered company.

The company operates a comprehensive Quality and Safety Management system and holds the ISO9001:2000 Quality Management listing with BVQI. In addition the company has a well entrenched reputation in the market for quality products.

Today the company consists of four manufacturing entities, processing some 8500 tons of steel per annum.
